During my time on the American Express Technologies Graduate team I was recruited by my 2nd assignment team as a full-time employee.
In this role I currently develop web applications using many different technologies including J2EE, ActionScript, xHTML, CSS and JavaScript.

The American Express technologies graduate programme sponsors successful applicants to undertake a part-time masters degree at Sussed University whilst they work for American Express Technologies. Graduates are given the chance to experience different roles including programmer analyst and project manager over the two-year contract with the aim of achieving a masters degree and securing a full-time position within American Express.
My first assignment in this job involved front end programming on the redesign of a high profile home page for 4 different international markets. The home page for each market was comprised of xHTML, CSS and JavaScript surrounding a Flash centerpiece made from class based ActionScript. My responsibilities outside of page development included attending meetings with business partners to discuss timelines and requirements as well as liaising with design agencies to provide input and guidance on designs.
My second project involved working with one other programmer on the development of a personalised advertising widget programmed in Flash. Although an equally high profile project, this team was far smaller than in my first project and this required far more scrutiny of coding and attention to detail by myself in order to produce the best possible product for the business.

My role at Relate South Essex was as a sole web master on a part time basis. When I joined Relate there was currently no website in place so my initial task was to purchase, design, implement and upload several web sites for the charity. For this task my implementation required the use of technologies such as CSS, Javascript and HTML, all of which I am competent in. My role now is to periodically update and maintain these websites to a high standard.
